How do I request a dictation ID?

HIM Transcription Services & Health Info Exchange provides dictation IDs for physicians, nurse practitioners, some allied health, medical residents, fellows and trainees.

NOTE: Out-of-Province Physicians and new MSIs/Residents/Fellows must be registered and have their privileges with Medical Affairs before they can obtain a dictation ID. For certain sites, dictation IDs can only be issued after patient clinical information system training has been completed.

If you have completed the required training, it will take up to 3 business days to process your ID. Your dictation ID and information will be emailed to you.

The M*Modal transcription system is based on an electronic voice recognition system and you will be defining your own voice profile in the system. It is very important that you do not share your dictation ID since this will compromise your own speech profile which will prolong the editing process and turn-around time for your reports and affects patient care.

Please ensure you complete the required PCIS training. If you are not in receipt of your dictation ID afterwards, contact Transcription Services at 604-806-9696 or email so we can grant additional access.
