AI Scribe Trial Program

Program Overview

The AI Scribe Trial Program gives ambulatory/outpatient clinicians in BC a free six-week pilot of privacy-compliant, non-Electronic Medical Record-integrated ambient AI scribe tools to reduce documentation time and enhance patient-care delivery. During three consecutive cycles from July to December 2025, participants can trial one tool per cycle, compare experiences, and provide feedback to shape future adoption.

What Is an Ambient AI Scribe?

An ambient AI scribe listens to clinical conversations, uses natural language processing to auto-generate draft SOAP notes, and lets you review, edit, and paste them into a patient's Electronic Health Record—streamlining documentation without interrupting patient rapport. These tools also support standalone dictation modes if you prefer voice-to-text entry only.

Who's Eligible?

Any physician, nurse practitioner, midwife, or dentist working in an ambulatory or outpatient setting under Provincial Health Services Authority, Vancouver Coastal Health, Providence Health Care, or Fraser Health may enroll—simply use your health authority email address to sign up.

How It Works

  1. Select one vendor per six-week cycle; multiple registrations won't be accepted.
  2. Upon enrollment, the Transcription Services-Education Specialist (TS-ES) team shares your contact with the vendor to initiate onboarding and training.
  3. Receive credentials and start your six-week trial, during which you can measure time savings and note accuracy.
  4. At trial end, choose to continue with a 50%-off, one-year license or switch to a different vendor in a later cycle.

Meet the Vendors

Each of these pre-qualified vendors meets Canadian privacy/security standards (HIPAA/PIPEDA, SOC 2 where noted) and supports core features like multilingual notes, offline capture, and custom templates:
