You can now provide your email during registration at some Lower Mainland hospitals to receive your bills and invoices electronically.
Please get in touch with the Fraser Health Accounts Receivable team:
Why are you asking for my email address?
We are asking for your email address to simplify the
billing and invoicing process for you. Email communication creates a digital
record that you can reference at any time and makes it easier for you to
receive and manage bills and invoices.
What are the benefits of sharing my email?
Contacting you by email
creates a digital record that you can keep for reference. It also allows for
immediate delivery, streamlining the process, and avoiding delays from
traditional mail. Communicating with you via email also helps us reduce our
paper usage. Email may help us better communicate with you if you live outside
of British Columbia or Canada.
How will my email address be used?
Your email address will only be used by the hospital
finance/accounts receivable team to contact you, if needed, regarding billing
and invoicing. You can withdraw your consent to email communication at any
time.
Will others who access my chart be able to see my email?
No. Your email address will only be visible to the Registration Clerk you speak with during registration and the hospital finance/accounts receivable team.
Where will my email address be stored/collected?
This information will be stored and collected within
Fraser Health databases.
How will my email address be kept secure?
The email address collected will be kept in a secure
Fraser Health database. Your email address will automatically be deleted from
our system seven days after you receive your bill.
Can I choose not to give you my email address?
Yes. You can also withdraw consent for us to contact
you via email at any time and have your email address deleted from your patient
file. We can contact you by phone if needed.
Will I need to provide my consent to receive email during future visits?
It depends. Not all hospitals currently offer
electronic billing. If the hospital you visit does provide invoices by email,
you will be able to give your consent at that time to receive your bill
electronically.
Will I be asked this question in other parts of the hospital?
No, this question is only being asked in the Emergency
Room for Emergency Room visits at this time.
