How much does it cost to obtain a Health Record?

Patients/Clients/Residents and/or Their Representatives

There is no fee for patients/clients/residents and/or their representatives to obtain a copy of your health record within timelines outlined by the Freedom of Information & Protection of Privacy Act.

In some situations, a fee may be charged for special processing. For example, if you want records on a ‘rush’ basis and the hospital/facility determines it is feasible to comply, a rush fee may be applied. We cannot guarantee that a ‘rush’ request will be filled.  Please contact the hospital/facility from which you are requesting the health records to discuss any special processing.

Companies/Organizations

For requests other than for continuing care or patient/client/resident and/or their representative’s use, administrative fees may be charged to organizations per the guidelines established for health authorities. These often include, but not limited to, requests from insurance companies or law firms.  In certain circumstances, prepayment may be required.  Please contact the hospital/facility from which you are requesting the health records to discuss any administrative fees or special processing.
